Certified Pediatric Sleep Consultant
I'm Danielle, Mama of one and lover of all things sleep. I hold a bachelor degree in Speech, Language, & Hearing Sciences, a Master’s degree in Applied Behavior Analysis, and Child Sleep Certification from the Family Sleep Institute. I love learning and growing and helping others do the same.
I have poured my heart and soul into learning about children, their behaviors, their sleep habits, and everything in between. From a young age, I’ve always been an observer, listener, and empathetic problem-solver and for a long time, I wasn’t sure how to put that into practice.
Six years ago, I began working as a behavior therapist for children with special needs and quickly realized my calling. Through this I was able to combine my love for observing behaviors, problem solving, and connecting one-on-one with children and their families. Over the years, this passion of mine has evolved. I began to see firsthand how sleep (or lack thereof) was impacting how parents live day-to-day and how they parent their children. All around me were exhausted parents simply trying to survive each day and you know the core of their struggle? Sleep. This is not the life parents or their children deserve. Sleep is a biological need for everyone, not a luxury to be lost once you have children.
Sleep is a natural behavior, but it doesn’t always come easy. My goal through Guiding Star Sleep is to connect with families by listening to their struggles, equipping them with the most current evidence-based solutions, and encouraging them to persevere through the hard times because just on the other side is beautiful, restful, restorative sleep for everyone.
We live in a world with information right at our fingertips. While those late night Google searches can be convenient, the information spewed out can also be overwhelming, conflicting, and just downright confusing. I take the guesswork out of sleep for you by providing a step-by-step sleep plan personalized specifically to your child and family.
Sleep deprivation impacts all areas of your life including relationships, your career, and how you parent. Sleep is crucial to your well-being.
Guiding Star Sleep encompasses all my passions and allows me to help family’s get the sleep they need to be fully present with their children.
More than a method. . .
I believe sleep training is more than just giving your family a singular method. Instead, I look at ALL aspects of sleep hygiene. I educate parents on the science of pediatric sleep, the importance of safe sleep practices, how to create a healthy sleep environment and I provide you with a step-by-step action plan unique to your child and family needs.
The strategies I use are rooted in evidence-based practices and based on the age-appropriate needs of each individual child. My goal is for you to have a full understanding of how your child can get the healthiest and most restorative sleep possible and maintain these practices over time as your child grows.
